Trekkers and travellers can now look forward to making a trip in the Himalayan Mountains this month. In order to encourage winter and rural tourism in Ladakh, a 2-day Chadar trek festival is being hosted for the first time at the remote Nyrak village. The village located in Leh region, also serves as the base camps of the trek.
The Chadar Trek is thronged by several adventure lovers, trekkers and sports buffs in the peak of winter to put their fortitude in sub-zero temperatures. Reportedly, seven villagers situated on the Chadar route have collaborated to organise this festival. The fest will also offer participants an opportunity to know how the local villagers travel on foot for several days on the frozen Zanskar River.
