Theatre and dance to delight the senses
Noteworthy for: Oscar-winning actress Cate Blanchett and husband Andrew Upton have worked tirelessly as artistic directors of the Sydney Theatre Company since 2009.

Arguably Australia's premier theater organisation, the STC operates out of three venues: Sydney Theatre, Sydney Opera House, and their main base at The Wharf Theatre in Walsh Bay. There's a real mix of worthwhile shows on here, from star-studded plays (look out for regulars including Hugo Weaving and David Wenham) to works by up-and-coming Australian playwrights.
Just across the road, the Sydney Dance Company presents the nation's leading contemporary dance performances under the direction of renowned artistic director Rafael Bonachela. The busy Walsh Bay arts precinct, just a short stroll from The Rocks, is also home to Bangarra Dance Theatre, Carnivale, Sydney Philharmonia Choirs and Australian Theatre for Young People.
