Uttar Pradesh gets its latest airport at Kushinagar. The Kushinagar International Airport was inaugurated by the Prime Minister on Wednesday, marking the beginning of a great new travel era in the historic city famed as a Buddhist pilgrimage. The new airport has been developed as part of the government's initiative to boost tourism.
The Prime Minister, during the inauguration ceremony said that the new airport in Kushinagar will benefit all, including locals, farmers, shop-owners, pilgrims, and also local industries. He said that it will create a new ecosystem for business and tourism, and will have maximum benefit. The airport will also create new job opportunities for the locals in the tourism and hospitality sector.
Uttar Pradesh is home to some of the most important Buddhist sites, while Bodh Gaya is in Bihar. Kushinagar is going to be part of the Buddhist circuit in the country; its first passengers were monks and dignitaries in a Sr Lankan Airlines flight.
