The decision was taken after it was noticed that the passengers were thronging the airport seven to eight hours before the departure time of their flight. This was leading to an increase in the crowd at the airport.
Director, Airport Authority of India (AAI), Srinagar airport, Kuldeep Singh said, “Passengers are requested to please come to the airport only up to three hours before flight departure time”. He further stated that the entry to the airport shall be given only up to three hours before flight departure.
He further said that the disease is spreading very fast and that the infection is more in crowded regions. He also stated that all the passengers are requested to maintain social distance at the airport and also wear a mask at all times.
The airport is following the No Mask No Entry rule and is charging a fine of INR 500 if any passengers remove their mask. If a passenger is not wearing a mask, he/she won’t be allowed to enter the airport. Passengers are also advised to maintain social distance.
On Wednesday, Jammu and Kashmir witnessed a 50 percent jump in the daily infection.
