Army to host a 3-day snow sports festival in Bhaderwah, Kashmir from February 18

In a bid to revive tourism, the Army has decided to organise a three-day snow sports festival in Bhaderwah, Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir. The snow carnival is all set to begin from February 18 and is most likely to boost the pandemic-hit tourism industry in the state. The event is being organised by the Indian Army's Rashtriya Rifles unit which is based at Bhaderwah.

For those who don’t know, Bhaderwah is also famous as Mini Kashmir owing to its picturesque settings. During these three days, a number of snow activities will be organised including skiing, snow sledding and snowboarding, among others. Snowman making competitions will also be organised at Thanthera, Jaie Valley, Sartingal and Padri.
Not only this, for the entertainment of tourists, there will be a live performance by a band from Bhaderwah. Photography exhibitions and competitions will also be held here.

The Additional Deputy Commissioner of Bhaderwah Rakesh Kumar said, "The primary objective to organise snow carnival at this time is to give the much-needed boost to tourism in Bhaderwah valley which is the mainstay of the economy of the locals who have suffered a lot due to the coronavirus pandemic".
The officer further said that the festival will offer a perfect platform to the youth of the region to showcase their talent. The locals in the valley are also quite happy with the efforts of army to revive the tourism industry in the region.
