As per the latest news reports, three cases of Omicron subvariant BF.7, apparently the strain that is responsible for driving China's current surge of COVID cases, have been detected in India so far.
During the meeting, attended by senior officials and experts, the Union Health Minister was briefed on the global COVID-19 situation and the domestic scenario, which included preparedness of all stakeholders.
If reports from the medical experts are to go by, more than 60% of China’s population is likely to be infected by the virus in the next three months; meanwhile, India got into action to review India's COVID preparedness.
Referring to this, Niti Aayog member Dr VK Paul advised people to mask up in crowded places to prevent the spread of the virus, amid fears that the wave of infections in China might spawn new mutations.
