Tourists visiting Dubai will have to undergo a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) nasal swab test before flying from their home country, and need to carry test-result documentation with them. Travelers who are able to show valid, recognized tests, and are not showing any COVID-19 symptoms, will not be quarantined or tested in Dubai. However, those who fail to undergo the test before traveling, will be screened by medics on arrival at Dubai airport. Children will also have to undergo tests to enter Dubai.
However, Dubai has its own immigration service and crisis authority, and also follows different rules from the rest of the country.
On July 7, Dubai reopened its doors to international visitors in a move to revive its tourism industry, after remaining closed for almost four months. Referring to this development, Director General of the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing Helal Al Marri stated that travel will likely ‘normalise’ in autumn and winter, as tourists are expected to return to Dubai in great numbers.
Regarding tourists undergoing COVID-19 test, he added that this is their way of safeguarding everyone coming into the city, which will also ensure that those who test negative, will not be required to be quarantined. However, those who test positive, will be sent to institutional stays as hotels have been set up for this purpose, or if required, will be hospitalized.
