England introduces £5000 fine law for people planning to travel abroad

England’s COVID situation has worsened. In order to deal with the current situation, the country has announced a fine of £5000 (nearly INR 4,98,167) for people from England who try to go abroad without providing a good reason to do so. The new stringent law will be introduced from next week and is supposed to last until the end of June.

The English Prime Minister Boris Johnson said, "A lot of people do want to know about what's going to happen on the holiday front and I know there's a great deal of curiosity and interest."
He also warned about a third COVID-19 wave in Europe on Monday and said it was "too early" to introduce new foreign travel rules for summers.

Starting next week, any such attempt will include a heavy fine. The penalty is included in legislation and British MPs will take a vote on the same this Thursday.
Presently, the UK has banned all sorts of foreign holidays under Stay at Home legislation. But now, it is going to be replaced with the new COVID-19 laws next week. The government has assured its citizens that the holidays could be allowed again starting May 17.

The announcement comes after Europe reported a surge in Coronavirus cases along with the slow rollout of vaccines in the continent.
Government adviser Prof Neil Ferguson said on a leading news radio channel that he thinks people should be planning on summer holidays in the UK and not overseas under current circumstances.
