The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), on the occasion of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav that celebrates the 75 years of India’s Independence, has announced the same. Raj Kumar Patel, Superintending Archaeologist for Agra Circle of Archeological Survey of India said, “Besides, a 50-feet high flag would be hoisted at Agra Fort and Fatehpur Sikri from August 15 to mark the occasion”.
Under Amrit Mahotsav, the ASI has also selected water bodies at Gurudwara Guru Ka Taal, Taj Mahal, Agra Fort, which are amongst 150 water bodies identified across India. These will be the major highlights of Amrit Mahotsav.
Moreover, entry to all the ASI-protected monuments in India will be free between August 5 to 15, 2022. There are 3600 ASI monuments in the country, each a reminder of India’s golden history and incredible beauty.
From Delhi’s Humayun's Tomb and Qutub Minar and Jaipur’s Hawa Mahal to Maharashtra’s Ajanta-Ellora caves and Mamallapuram’s Shore Temples, entry to all these monuments will be absolutely free for 10 days!
Note that the free entry rule is applicable for all Indian citizens and foreign visitors.
