Speaking at the conclave, the minister also talked about the major strides India has made in the tourism sector, solidifying its position as a global travel hub. He also highlighted that India has seen an increase in domestic tourism, with a 95.64% hike in the number of domestic tourists.
These initiatives are designed to enhance the nation’s tourism offerings and ensure that both popular and hidden gems. Mr. Shekhawat further highlighted the significance of initiatives such as the e-tourist visa facility. Measures like these are helping to boost the number of inbound tourists and ensuring a smooth and hassle-free experience for globetrotters.

The minister also spoke about the shift in the tourism towards experiential tourism, focusing on providing more personalised and immersive experiences for travellers. In addition, he acknowledged the rise of emerging segments such as MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) tourism and medical tourism.
However, he also stressed the need for continued investment in infrastructure to meet global standards, ensuring that India remains competitive on the global tourism map.
Mr. Shekhawat credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s "Whole of Government" approach for transforming the tourism sector. This strategy has integrated development and heritage preservation, fostering a more inclusive and sustainable tourism ecosystem. “Tourism connects cultures and bridges nations,” said the Minister, adding that India’s increasing number of domestic and international visitors is a testament to the success of this vision.

The conclave was concluded by reaffirming India’s preparedness to welcome 45 crore visitors for the Maha Kumbh, emphasising the importance of collaboration to make tourism a key driver of the Indian economy.
