Goa-like beach shacks to come up across coastal areas in India

Very soon, all coastal areas across the country will have Goa-like beach shacks. As per the latest news reports, the Environment Ministry has already given a nod to the idea, and has also allowed removal of sand bars by the local communities through a non-mechanised manual method.

The Ministry has also decided against drilling for oil and natural gas in coastal regulation zones (CRZ), which was introduced under its 2021 proposal, without prior approval.
If reports are to go by, these decisions were taken recently and were part of an amendment to the Island Coastal Zone Regulation and the Coastal Regulations Zone notifications of 2019.

Thus, the Centre's notification will now allow the state governments to decide on the smaller infrastructure projects too, which will include standalone jetties, breakwaters, and more.
Now, with the recent amendment, other coastal areas in the country will also feature beach shacks that are so popular in Goa.

The green ministry has now made way for their presence throughout the year and across all coastal states - a move, which will likely boost tourism and the coastal economy. The Ministry had also relaxed norms for traditional communities in the area.
Coastal land up to 500 m from the high-tide line and 100 m along banks of creeks, estuaries, backwaters and rivers is called a CRZ, and the CRZ rules regulate activities in such areas to protect fragile ecosystems.
