Gujarat will soon have its first tiger safari park in Dang

The government of Gujarat is planning to introduce its first tiger safari park in Dang. With the safari park, the state will feature eight zoo-bred tigers including four cubs. As per a senior forest official the initial plan was to build the park at Tilakwada which is some 25 km away from the famous Statue of Unity.

However, now the government has decided to construct a zoological park which will feature exotic animals from around the world. He further added, "Meanwhile, the site at Dang was approved for a leopard safari park. But the authorities changed their mind and revived the plan for the tiger safari park."
As per the proposal, 28.96 hectares of land have been earmarked in Jhakhana and Jobari villages in Ahwa-Dangs. A consultant will be appointed who will draw up the project plan and will have animal enclosures and vets in the region. The department is also planning to have an enclosure for leopards, a paddock for herbivores and an aviary at the tiger safari park. It will be around four-hour drive from Kevadia.

Maniswara Raja, chief conservator of forest said, "We are at the initial stage of the plan. We will bring zoo-bred animals to the tiger safari park along the lines of the lion safari park in Devaliya. The tourists will be permitted to use open jeeps for the excursion."
As per the forest department sources the park will have two sets each of a tiger, a tigress and her cubs.
