Hyderabad airport starts paperless e-boarding facility for international fliers

Rajiv Gandhi International Airport has become the first airport in India to launch a start to end paperless e-boarding facility for foreign flights, becoming the first airport in India to do so.
According to the reports, the GMR group-led airport is already a pioneer in India for offering end- to-end paperless e-boarding to its domestic passengers in all the flights. The airport’s international e-boarding service gives safe travel choices for international passengers opting to fly out of Hyderabad. For now, the service has been made available for a few international flights of IndiGo airlines.
Reportedly, IndiGo Airlines became the flagship carrier to kickstart this service by flying Sharjah-bound passengers from Hyderabad on the 6E 1405 flight on October 2.
News has it that more scheduled international flights from Hyderabad are lined-up to be integrated with the airport’s e-boarding system due to be presented soon.
Pradeep Panicker, CEO, GMR Hyderabad airport told the press that during the ongoing pandemic, automating the passenger journey offers a better airport experience. Once the successful test of the project is done and all regulatory approvals are taken, their internal capabilities are to take up e-boarding solution for international operations.
