Maharashtra: Beaches, restaurants, public spaces to stay shut; night curfew imposed

Given the sudden spike in COVID-19 cases in the state, the Maharashtra government has announced another lockdown. A stricter weekend lockdown has been imposed in Mumbai to cap the number of infections. On Sunday, the state reported around half a lakh cases, with more than 11000 were recorded in Mumbai alone.

The state’s Break the Chain Restrictions has been implemented till April 30. This includes daily night curfews and a complete weekend lockdown. Another set of weekday (daytime) restrictions will be enforced and soon announced.
Under the new restrictions:

1) All restaurants, theatres, multiplexes will remain shut.
2) Complete lockdown on weekends.3) All public and private transport won’t be stopped but no standing passengers in buses and outstation trains. Only two passengers will be allowed in auto rickshaws.
4) Section 144 to be imposed through the day and night curfew.
5) No one can leave their house between 8 PM and 7 AM without any valid reason
6) Beaches, parks and other public places to stay shut between 8 PM to 7 AM
7) Malls, theaters, multiplexes, swimming pools, gyms and market places to remain shut till April 30
8) All the religious and worship spots to shut for visitors, only priests and staff will be allowed
9) Restaurants will be only allowed for takeaway and parcels between 7 AM to 8 PM.

The government has also announced that residential societies with five or more positive cases will be declared a containment zone and outside entries will be completely prohibited.
