Coastal areas brace for impact
The IMD has issued a red alert for Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Thiruvarur, and Karaikal. Residents have been warned of torrential rainfall and possible flooding in low-lying areas. If reports are to go by, heavy rains accompanied by thunderstorms are also expected in places like Chennai, Puducherry, Chengalpattu, Villupuram, Cuddalore, and Thanjavur.

Schools and colleges closed
To ensure safety, schools and colleges in several districts, including Chennai, Trichy, Nagapattinam, Cuddalore, and Puducherry, were declared closed.
Preparedness measures in full swing
Authorities in the Cauvery delta region have been advised to remain on high alert. Residents are also advised to stay at home, and avoid all unnecessary travel, as transportation services may face interruptions due to the cyclone.

Rain and thunderstorms
Apart from coastal regions, other parts of Tamil Nadu will also feel the impact of the cyclone. For places like Sivagangai, Perambalur, and Kallakurichi, moderate to heavy rainfall is predicted. These areas, along with other neighbouring areas are likely to experience thunderstorms and lightning. Residents are also advised to be prepared for localised flooding.
