International Tourism Mart 2024: Kaziranga showcases North East India's tourism potential at the event

Kaziranga in Assam is all set to showcase its tourism potential at the 12th edition of the International Tourism Mart (ITM). The event will commence from November 26 and will end on 29, 2024. This event, organised by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, is an annual event which showcases the tourism potential of North East India to both domestic and international visitors.

Location
The event is being held against the backdrop of Kaziranga National Park, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site noted for being home to the unique one-horned rhinoceros.

Participants

The event is seeing around 400 participants. It includes both international and domestic participants, including tour operators, hoteliers, tourism entrepreneurs, influencers, media representatives, government officials, and tourism experts. ITM provides an ideal platform for networking and collaboration, helping to promote tourism businesses and establish valuable connections within the industry.
The event has an amalgam of business and cultural activities, including:

In addition to the main event, participants will have the chance to visit nearby attractions, such as the historical Charaideo Moidam, the Hathikuli Tea Estate, and the Orchid and Biodiversity Park, providing a deeper understanding of the region's heritage and natural beauty.

Travel for Life

This year’s ITM aligns with the "Travel for Life" initiative. It focuses on sustainability and eco-friendly practices. Efforts will include reducing single-use plastics, using energy-efficient solutions, and providing shuttle services to minimize the environmental impact of the event.

The ITM plays a crucial role in boosting tourism in the North East, benefiting the eight states—Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura, and Sikkim every year.
