Thailand: Visitors can now choose to spend quarantine in golf resorts

The Ministry of Public Health’s Emergency Operation Centre (EOC) of Thailand for COVID-19 has announced new options for quarantine. Visitors will now have an option to spend their 14-day quarantine period in one of the government-approved golf resorts.

As per the latest reports, the department has announced a list of government-approved golf resorts that will enable foreign golfers with advance arrangements for golfing in Thailand to undergo a golf quarantine as an alternative option for local state quarantine.
Thailand has approved these golf quarantine spots for foreign golfers in December 2020. These six approved golf resorts have passed strict audits, including certification of overall standard as per the criteria.

As per the news reports, these six golf resorts approved for golf quarantine in Thailand are Mida Golf Club, Evergreen Hills Golf Club, and Blue Star Golf Course, Artitaya Golf & Resort, Sawang Resort and Golf Club and Artitaya Chiang Mai Golf & Resort.
As such, foreign golfers who are now planning to visit Thailand will be allowed to spend their two-week quarantine period at any of these government-certified golf resorts. This option will enable them to move around freely in the resort environment while also spending time playing golf, rather than just having to isolate in their rooms.
Referring to this, the Thailand Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) stated that golfers will still require to have all of their advance arrangements in place for arrival and entry, including a visa, which can include a Special Tourist Visa (STV) or Single-Entry Tourist Visa (TR), Certificate of Entry, medical and travel insurance among others.

Further, Thailand announced to relax travel restrictions in December for citizens from 56 countries in a bid to balance the economic and health effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
