This year’s message was peace in the world, end of Russia-Ukraine conflict, and safety of the Indians struck in the war region. The celebration ended with a multicoloured 1381 m long ceremonial chadar being offered on the Shah Jahan and his wife’s Mumtaz Mahal’s grave. The chadar represented various faiths in India.
Hazi Tahiruddin Tahir, the president of Khuddam-e-roza committee (the traditional caretakers of the Taj Mahal) said that the main aim of offering this colourful chadar is to spread the message of love and unity across the world.
Hazi said, “We prayed for Indian citizens who are stuck in Ukraine. We want them to come back safely to India.”
The committee has been celebrating Urs for the last three days and on the first day, they offered prayer for peace and harmony. A phoolon ki chadar was put on the original graves of Mughal emperor Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal.
Also, the basement doors which lead to the original graves of Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal were also opened to the common public as part of the ritual. The door otherwise remains shut all the time.
