Best of adventure and culture at the upcoming Sambhar Festival in Jaipur

At present, Jaipur is abuzz with activities. The district administration and the state tourism department are going to jointly organise the three-day Sambhar Festival (February 17-19).

So what exactly is Sambhar Festival?



Sambhar Festival is going to be an adventure cum cultural festival. The famous Sambhar Salt Lake, located in Jaipur, is where this festival is going to be held. Sambhar Lake is one of the largest lakes in India, and is famous for being one of the most important areas for flamingos.


The festival will focus on the lake’s special features and its potential as a great tourist destination in Jaipur. For this, the festival will feature special events like full moon events, bike rides, kite flying, parasailing, ATV rides, camel rides, photography exhibitions, Sambhar salt processing tours and birdwatching. Several folk performances by local artists will also be a part of the festival.



The festival will be a great opportunity to learn more about this spectacular and unique lake. Did you know that, outside Gujarat’s Rann of Kutch, Sambhar Lake is the next best place to see an incredibly large gathering of flamingos? The saline wetland somehow provides a conducive environment for these birds!
