In the month of October, the country had said that it would reopen the resort island Phu Quoc for vaccinated travellers only from November. From December, the country will allow vaccinated travellers from approved countries to visit UNESCO World Heritage sites in Vietnam, including Halong Bay and Hoi An. Besides, the country is also ready to reopen the gorgeous town of Dalat and beach destination Nha Trang for tourists.
The move comes after neighbouring country Thailand gears up to welcome tourists after a long gap. On October 10, the government of Vietnam allowed domestic flights to resume after more than two months. Travel firms too started introducing tours complying with new normal requirements.
The statement released by the government of Vietnam said, "We are only open when it's truly safe. We are moving step by step, cautiously but flexibly to adapt to real situations of the pandemic."
In 2020, the foreign arrivals in Vietnam fell to 3.8 million from 18 million (2019). Now the country is trying to increase its vaccination rate and as of now, only 13 percent of the population is vaccinated which is among the lowest in Asia.
