Situated around eight kilometres north of Venice, Marco Polo offers several options for transfers into the city. The most romantic route, of course, is by water. The Alilaguna water bus operates four lines from the airport into Venice (EUR 8-15), departing from the pier around 10 minutes walk from the airport terminal (or take a shuttle for EUR 3). Ask at the Alilaguna ticket booth which line will get you closest to your hotel or check the webpage. Some versions of the 'Venice Connected' card will cover Alilaguna trips, although the separate 'Tourist Travel Cards' do not. Read less
Venice's main air hubNoteworthy for: For ultimate luxury, take a private water taxi to your hotel with company Venice Link (EUR 110).
Word to the wise: Official taxis have a yellow stripe down the side plus a license plate; be wary of non-licensed taxi captains touting for trade.

More prosaically, blue ATVO express buses depart from outside the terminal to Piazzale Roma and take 20-minutes. They run every 30 minutes until around midnight. The ticket counter is in the main terminal building. The slower (but cheaper) ACTV #5 orange buses go from outside Arrivals to Piazzale Roma and run until around 4.30am.
