Dive bar that you'll either love or hate
Noteworthy for: At weekends, St. Roch's is home to the local crusty punk crowd - expect piercings galore, facial tattoos, dogs running wild and a party-hard atmosphere.

This neighborhood bar just behind St. Claude's Avenue north of the Marigny is bright in the afternoons, with the usual handful of regulars and decent Mexican food. But come nighttime, St. Roch's fills up with New Orleans' substantial alternative crowd, who come for loud music, dog-friendly attitudes, and pitchers of beer offered at the price of a glass elsewhere.
Music on Saturday nights is New Orleans bounce, the staccato, high-speed mechanical hip-hop that rules these parts, spun by DJ Rusty Lazer. On Fridays there's hardcore rap, rock and punk, while Thursdays feature rhythm and blues with JD and the Jammers.
