Bengali television is set to welcome a series of new shows. Ranging from comedy-drama, family-drama to period-piece; a full platter of entertainment is ready for the audience. And one of the much-awaited TV shows is ‘Komola O Sreeman Prithviraj’.
The show, which managed to tickle the curiosity level of the audience with its very first glimpse, has a very interesting star cast.
While senior artists Kushal Chakraborty, Abhijit Guha, Sohini Sanyal and others will play prominent roles in the show the makers have chosen two young artists as Komola and Prithviraj.
Child artist Ayanna Chatterjee, who played Mimi Chakraborty’s niece in movie ‘Mini’, has bagged the project. She managed to steal the hearts of Bengali audience with her cuteness in the movie, and now, she is ready for a new inning as Komola. Besides this, she has featured in TV shows as well, including Bengali television’s one of the favourite shows, ‘Korunamoyee Rani Rashmoni’.
On the other hand, Prithviraj’s character will be played by young artist Sukrit Saha. Prior to this, she was seen in the web series ‘Srikanto’. His performance in the series caught the attention of the audience too.
The very mention of ‘Shriman Prithviraj’ takes the Bengali audience on a nostalgic trip. Tarun Majumder’s movie released in 1973, under the same title, is one of the all-time favourite movies of many cine lovers. It narrates a teenage love story woven at the backdrop of British ruled India. The movie starred Ayan Banerjee and Mahua Roy Choudhury, Utpal Dutt, Rabi Ghosh and many other eminent artists.
The first glimpse of 'Komola O Sreeman Prithviraj' on the small screen, tickled that memory for those who enjoyed the movie several times and yet would watch it again.
While Bengali television is still dominated by saas-bahu sagas and mythological shows, it will be interesting to see what the upcoming show has to offer.
