This year’s Lokkhi Pujo is special for actress Alokananda Guha. This is her first Lokkhi Pujo at Majumder household as Mrs. Majumder. She got married to director Monojit Majumder in February. The bubbly actress is enjoying an extended festive mood. “I am having a busy schedule these days and thoroughly enjoying it (laughs). I went to bring Maa Lokkhi’s idol with Monojit yesterday evening. We bought all the necessary articles required for Pujo,” she adds.

Monojit and Alokananda beautifully decorated their place for Lokkhi Pujo. While the former prepared ‘bhog’, the latter assisted him in every step. “Monojit is well acquainted with all the rituals of Puja. He prepares bhog all by himself and today, isn’t an exception. But I did assist him,” she shyly adds.

Every year, the Guha family celebrates Lokkhi Pujo with great fervour and devotion at Kalyani, at their native place. “Although we live in Kolkata, we are originally from Kalyani. Every year, my grandmother arranges Lokkhi Pujo. I have many fond memories that make me all nostalgic. For Lokkh Pujo our place is beautifully decorated and we all participate. I eagerly wait for bhog which tastes heavenly,” she says.

This year, Alokananda’s parents will join her at Majumder household for Lokkhi Pujo. “My parents will come to our place in the evening for Pujo. I am really excited about it,” says the actress.

Interestingly, this year’s festive season has been an extravagant one for the newlywed couple. “This year, I am enjoying double celebrations. Monojit’s family organises Durga Pujo. So, I spent a few days in Kolkata and celebrated Durga Puja at our household and then went to Kalyani. There, I had a lot of fun with my family and old friends. On Dashami, I did Debi Boron and enjoyed Sindoor Khela at Kalyani first. Then we quickly came back to Kolkata and performed all the rituals prior to Bisarjan. So this year, I performed the ritual of Debi Boron twice and enjoyed Sindoor Khela two times. It’s indeed a beautiful year for me,” she signed out with a bright smile on her face.
