Meanwhile, Rooqma, who has been enjoying a holiday mood, is elated to bag a new project.She was last seen in Trina Saha and Koushik Roy starrer ‘Khorkuto’ and ‘Desher Maati’. The Rahul Arunoday Banerjee, Dibyojyoti Dutta and Shruti Das starrer was popular among the audience. Rooqma played Mampy’s character in the show while Rahul essayed Raja, an idealistic doctor. Mampy-Raja’s jodi was hugely popular among the audience and an instant hit. Although the show went off-air few months back, fans still cherish their reel chemistry. Rooqma became a household name playing the lead in fantasy-drama ‘Kironmala’ years back. Since then, there was no looking back for her. She has been a part of many popular daily soaps on Bengali TV.
Although thriller-suspense and horror stories are immensely popular in Bengali literature and enjoys a huge readership, and have seen television adaptations, the genre is missing from the small screen. Bengali television is mostly driven by saas-bahu sagas along with a few period-dramas and mythological shows. It will be interesting to see, how the show fares in terms of TRP and whether it beats the saas-bahu sagas.
