Sonamoni Saha and Honey Bafna’s new show ‘Shubho Bibaho’ to premiere on June 17

‘Ekka Dokka’ fame Sonamoni Saha is coming back to Bengali television. This time, the actress is teaming up with actor Honey Bafna. Sonamoni and Honey are returning to Bengali TV with their new show ‘Shubho Bibaho’. The new Bengali mega serial is set to premiere on June 17.
Sonamoni will be seen portraying the character of a divorced woman Sudha, whereas Honey will essay the role of an heir of an aristocratic business family, Tej.As per the story of the show, Sudha is a divorced woman, who lives her life on her own terms. She runs a company that manages events and weddings. On the other hand, Tej is one of the most popular eligible bachelors in the neighbourhood and belongs to an aristocratic business family. Sudha and Tej cross each other and there’s an instant spark. Will they take that as a sign and give each other a chance to move forward together?

The show ‘Shubho Bibaho’ aims to reflect on and redefine society’s approach toward a divorcee. As per the story, Sudha doesn’t want to hide that information from someone she might be marrying in the future. Sudha belongs to a middle-class household, where divorce is still taboo and people don’t shy away from giving a divorcee side-eye. The search for a suitable groom for Sudha is going in full swing so that her sisters can get married as well. But as soon as the potential grooms and their families get to know about Sudha’s marital status, they take several steps back. Meanwhile, Tej is the heir of an aristocratic family ruled by a matriarch Kanan Devi. She turns Sudha down as the future bride for her grandson Tej. Talking about the criteria of a desirable bride for her grandson, Kanan Devi mentions ‘innocent, untouched and pure’. A divorced woman is a misfit in that category. ‘Shubho Bibaho’ also stars Saswati Guhathakurta apart from Sonamoni and Honey, who will be seen playing the character of Kanan Devi, the matriarch.
Sonamoni was last seen in ‘Ekka Dokka’, after ‘Mohor’, which aired on the same TV channel. On that show, she was paired up with Saptarshi Maulik. On the other hand, Honey Bafna has been a popular face on Bengali TV after working in serials like ‘Bokul Katha’, ‘Prothoma Kadambini’, ‘Sohag Jol’.
