Veteran television and film actor Mrinal Mukherjee passed away today (May 7). The actor was battling with cancer for a long time. He was also diagnosed with jaundice and geriatric issues recently. However, the passionate actor continued to work despite his ill health. He was admitted to a private hospital in Kolkata. His health condition deteriorated yesterday (May 6) and the actor passed away this noon.
Mrinal Mukherjee essayed the role of Nabakumar in ‘Amloki’, which went off-air last year.
Popular singer and actress Jojo is his daughter.
His sad demise has left Tollywood entertainment industry in shock. Many actors and directors have offered their condolences.
The senior actor was also a good singer in real life. He made his debut as a child actor in 1955 with the film ‘Dui Bon’. He was known for his acting chops and featured in many hit Bengali movies including ‘Golpo Holeo Sotti’, ‘Nayika Sangbad’, ‘Chuti’, ‘Shriman Prithviiraj’ among others. He also went on to feature in a few Hindi films like ‘Mausam’ directed by Gulzar.
