Sometimes, love finds us in the most unexpected ways, and for Dancing with the Stars pro Rylee Arnold, it happened during an ordinary ride. The 19-year-old recently shared the charming story of how she met her boyfriend, USC football player Walker Lyons, during the Christmas episode of The Squeeze podcast.
Arnold recounted feeling “sad and lonely” while preparing for her second season on the hit dance show. With her family living in another state and close friend Ezra Soza away in New York, she found herself without much support in Los Angeles.
One day, while shopping for an outfit for a Good Morning America appearance, Arnold decided to avoid the stress of navigating LA traffic and parking by taking an Uber instead. That seemingly simple decision turned out to be life-changing.
“I got into this Uber, and it was this really nice lady,” Arnold recalled. During their conversation about dance and life, the driver suddenly said, “Okay, this might sound really weird. Don’t take this the wrong way.”
The driver revealed she had a nephew playing football at USC who, in her opinion, would be a great match for Arnold. Encouraging her to look him up on Instagram, the driver planted the seed for their connection.
Intrigued, Arnold followed the advice, and the rest, as they say, is history.
The serendipitous meeting not only brought Arnold and Lyons together but also highlighted how even the most ordinary moments can lead to extraordinary outcomes. Arnold’s story is a reminder that sometimes, love is just a car ride away.
