'It was very creepy': Judith Light recalls filming in a former prison for ‘The Terror’

Actress Judith Light has come to the limelight for her latest role in the TV show ‘The Terror: Devil in Silver.’ While talking about what it was like to film for the horror TV show, the actress revealed that it was one of the creepiest experiences she had. She further opened up about how one of the scenes had to be shot at a former prison, which did not help the situation.While talking to PEOPLE, Light reflected on what the experience was like to film for ‘The Terror.’ She revealed during the interview that they had to film at an establishment to make the show more authentic, and later got to know that the place was formerly a prison.Talking about the lengths she went to for the shoot, the actress shared that, “It was totally the perfect place to shoot. We had all these setups that we were able to have because we had these long corridors. So it's remarkable.” The 77 year old also added that while they had their fun filming there, it was also a very creepy experience. “It was very creepy. Totally creepy. But also, we had a lot of fun,” she added.The scenes that the actress is talking about were shot at the Arthur Kill Correctional Facility in Staten Island. The establishment was decommissioned in 2011. Light plays the role of Dorry, a mysterious and unknown woman who has been living away at the bare-bones facility, all locked up.The premise of the TV show is set in the fictional hospital called the New Hyde Psychiatric Hospital. The series follows Pepper, who is admitted to the hospital against his wishes after an altercation with the authorities goes wrong. His stay is extended by the staff who deem that he is being insubordinate and needs to extend his stay to get cured. The show has 6 episodes for its first season and is available for watching on AMC+ and Shudder.
