Russell T Davies opens up about ‘Tip Toe’; says, ‘I wish television could change the world’
Russell T Davies’ new show on TV has become the talk of the town as of late. ‘Tip Toe’ is a brand new series featuring two gay neighbours whose boundaries and relationships are tested throughout the show. Davies recently gave a look into what goes on behind the scenes with all of the actors and crew members, and what he wants from the show.

Russell T Davies on creating ‘Tip Toe’

While talking to the BBC, Davies opened up about how he addresses serious topics with a humorous manner in most of his shows. Detailing more on his process, he added that "I see the world getting worse and worse these days, to be honest. I am very worried about the future for my nieces and nephews."As to whether he wishes for the show to bring light to issues, Davies only said that he wishes we lived in such a reality. “I wish television could change the world. I'd have written more and changed it faster if I could. I do feel bound to comment on the world, though,” he commented further on.Further on talking about the show, Davies included that one of the highlights of ‘Tip Toe’ was the fact that Alan Cumming was leading it. He cited that he had been attempting to cast the famous actor in one of his projects for the past 20 years.

Alan Cumming and David Morrissey weigh in on their roles in the show

Alan Cumming and David Morrissey, who are leading the show, also opened up about their roles and working together. While talking about some of the challenging scenes, Morrisey stated, “We have to do some pretty tough stuff, but the great thing about being with an actor who is a friend is that you can really push it.”Cumming also added, “As the series goes on and we all get to like everybody, and worry for them, you almost forget [I'm dead]. But we don't know how it happened, or when it happened in the story. It's really clever, it's suspenseful.”

What is the plot of ‘Tip Toe’

The TV series follows Alan Cumming, who plays Leo Struthers, a 59-year-old man who owns a bar in Manchester's Gay Village. David Morrissey plays the role of Clive, an electrician, and his neighbour in the area. Set in modern-day Britain, the show tackles themes of a violent, homophobic feud as the surrounding social strata start to change.
