No, we are not talking about her gym sessions, but the sign language training that actress Anita Hassanandani underwent for her character in the silent comedy, 'Gutur Gu'. The training lasted two months. Anita’s character in the show is very different from what she has done so far, which includes saas-bahu soaps, mythological and horror shows. The actress, who has never done a comedy, is excited about her new show and says that it was challenging, especially because it was a silent one.
She elaborates, “It was an out-of-the-box show. Comedy is extremely challenging and it becomes even more difficult when you have to express yourself silently. I had to do my homework, research extensively online and watch similar material. I have watched movies like
Pushpakand
Artistto imbibe the finer nuances of acting without dialogues. The expressions have to be spot on, so that the comic timing is not compromised.”
Incidentally,
Gutur Gu even finds a mention in the
Limca Book of Recordsfor the same. The show that revolves around a Punjabi Ahuja family, features Bhavna Balsavar, Jay Dutt Vyas, Bhairavi Raichura, Rahul Lohani and KK Goswami. Anita further adds that she swears by Bhavna’s comic timing and believes she learns something new from her each day. Watch Gutur Gu Season 2 on SAB TV every Saturday at 8.30 pm.
