Annu Kapoor: I am happy that at my age I am getting interesting roles to play

Annu Kapoor, who was recently hospitalised in Delhi, returned to Mumbai in the first week of February. The actor has been recuperating at home and will soon start shooting for his upcoming film Main Deendayal Hun. He will play the role of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay, who was a popular social worker and politician from the period of 1916-1968.

Annu Kapoor said, "It's rare that an actor gets to essay a role, which is subject-oriented and gives him great creative satisfaction. Acting is all about portraying a character, which you are not in real. I am very happy that at my age, I am getting to play such interesting roles. In the past, I have played many historical roles - Gandhiji in Sardar, Vinayak Savarkar in Kala Pani and I feel very proud that now I will be essaying the role of Pandit Deendayal in his biopic. The role is challenging and it will be a great experience."

Meanwhile, he is recovering well. He had to be admitted to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in New Delhi on January 26. He had complained of discomfort in the chest and had to undergo treatment at the hospital for four days. The actor has anchored many interesting shows on television and got popular hosting Antakshari during the 90s. In the past few years, he was seen anchoring the show - Golden Era with Annu Kapoor. The actor said, "TV and films both are challenging mediums and I am lucky to have landed great opportunities in them."
