Bhanu Uday: It’s not easy to play a doctor who falls in love with his best friend’s wife
Actor Bhanu Uday began concentrating on a career in films, after doing cameos and special roles. But when he was offered the role of a doctor in 'Hamari Sister Didi', he decided to get back to TV. Besides, dealing with matters of the heart, the doctor also has to face complications in his profession.

The current track focuses on how an error in judgment leads to the death of a young boy during an operation. Bhanu says, “The doctor’s profession has undergone a major change in the last two decades. In ancient China, a doctor got paid after he guaranteed good health of all people. But today, a doctor gets paid only if people are sick. Ambition, rather than healing mankind, has taken over and that’s why there’s a rise in incidences of medical negligence. Having said that, I would like to add that not all doctors are like that, nor am I playing a character like that. I thought it would be very interesting to play a doctor. Besides, it’s also the role of a guy who falls in love with his best friend’s wife. I am enacting a romantic role, with a comic element in it, for the first time.”
Hamari Sister Didi airs on new channel PAL at 8.30pm.
