Mumbai has made history this Ganeshotsav with the unveiling of “Boomerang Ka Raja,” the world’s tallest eco-friendly Ganpati idol at Boomerang Towers, Chandivali, Andheri East. Standing 26 feet tall and weighing 300 kg, the idol has already entered the World Book of Records. It was inaugurated by Namo Namo Organisation President Arun Kumar Sharma along with the Boomerang staff, in the presence of devotees and dignitaries, including actress Ekta Jain.Crafted by sculptor Rajesh Digambar Mayekar, the idol was made using 1,800 tissue paper boxes, 22 kg of glue, and 45 kg of iron. Mayekar has been creating eco-friendly idols since 2007. “This is not just about creating the tallest idol; it’s about sending a message that festivals can be celebrated with devotion while caring for nature. It’s an example for future generations,” said Arun Kumar Sharma.

During the pandemic, Sharma had first introduced the concept of eco-friendly Ganpati idols. With Boomerang Ka Raja, that vision has now scaled to a global record.
