"As an actor, it’s my responsibility to adjust my energy according to the requirements of the track—whether it’s emotionally intense, high on drama, comedy, or even action. I’m quite flexible that way, and I enjoy switching gears because spontaneity really works for me," he added.
He stressed that sudden narrative turns make the character both exciting and demanding. He said, "Every twist adds a new layer to the story and to the character, shaping how the journey moves forward. These sudden turns push you as an actor to explore different emotional spaces, which makes the process challenging but also very fulfilling."
Sharing his take on the sharp, unexpected turns stories take, he shared that he approaches it with a lot of depth and understanding of the script and his character.
He said, "I know where the character is coming from emotionally, but I still like to leave room for spontaneity. There are certain actions, dialogues, and body language choices that I don’t rehearse beforehand. I discover them organically in front of the camera once the director calls 'action.' That helps me stay honest and present in the moment."
Kanwar feels adaptability is extremely important in a fast-moving storyline. He said, "Whether the storyline is fast-paced, slow-moving, or even static, an actor needs to be flexible and able to switch between emotions, variations, and modulations. The strength of an actor lies in being able to bring out the right emotion at the right time, depending on what the story demands."
He revealed that he enjoys performing emotional scenes. He said, "Over the years, they’ve become my forte because they allow me to explore emotional spaces that I don’t usually access in my real life. I’ve always loved doing drama as well."
"At the same time, I truly enjoy comedy, it’s very close to who I am as a person. I’ve always been the funny guy in my friend circle, and with Udne Ki Aasha, that side of me has come out completely. Having said that, comedy is also one of the most challenging genres to perform," he added.
What next? "Viewers can definitely expect a lot of twists and turns and plenty of drama. The upcoming track will focus on the journey of Sachin Deshmukh, as well as Sachin and Sailee together, and how they move forward in their lives while dealing with the drama around them. It’s going to be engaging, emotional, and entertaining," Kanwar ended.
