Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah actor Mayur Vakani, who plays the role of Sundar in the show, has tested COVID-19 positive. He has been admitted to a hospital in Ahmedabad. Mayur's wife has also been tested COVID-19 positive, but as she is asymptomatic she is in home isolation.
ETimes TV, got in touch with Mayur's wife Hemali Vakani who confirmed the news and shared, "He shot for a few episodes of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah and returned on March 7.
A few days later he developed a few symptoms, but initially, we thought it could be because of travelling. However, after we did the test, his report came COVID-19 positive. Actually, thoda delay hogaya in getting the test done. He was admitted on March 11 at a hospital in Ahmedabad."
When asked about their health, Himali said, "Now, we both are fine. As I am asymptomatic, I am in home quarantine. Mayur will undergo another test maybe by tomorrow and will be discharged in a day or two."
As Mayur developed symptoms after returning from the shoot, as per ETimes TV, the cast and crew of the show have been asked to get themselves tested for the virus.
Mayur plays the role of Sundarlal, Dayaben aka Disha Vakani's brother and Jethalal's (Dilip Joshi) brother-in-law on the show. Not many are aware he is Disha Vakani's real-life brother. Currently, as the storyline Dayaben aka Disha is shown to be staying with her mother in Ahmedabad as she is unwell.Viewers have been eagerly waiting for her return on the show. It has been more than three years since the actress went missing in action from TMKOC.
The ardent fans of the show also enjoy watching the camaraderie between Mayur's character Sundar and Jethalal aka Dilip Joshi. The fun banter between them is unmissable.
