Replacing an actress on a show that’s been on air for four years is not an easy job. Geetanjali Mishra has taken up the challenge of stepping into Kamna Pathak’s shoes to play the new Rajesh Singh in Happu Ki Ultan Paltan. Geetanjali acknowledges, “The audience gets used to watching a face, her style, and the body language, especially in a long-running show. It’s definitely a task, as all eyes will be on me. I am just worried about how the audience will accept me. It’s definitely a task for me as an actor with so many eyes on me. Kamna played the part well, and I admired her work.
Toh meri koshish yahi rahegi ki main audience
ke ghar ki bahu ya beti bann jaun. Initially, I have to act like how the original Rajesh played the part. Directly
daaka nahi daal sakte. I will enjoy the freedom to play the character my way after some time.”
Geetanjali has joined a show in which she will be seen playing mother to nine children. Ask her about it, and she replies, “Imagine, I am not even married in real life! However, I have a strong motherly instinct, so I am confident about pulling it off well. While shooting, the kids asked me what they should call me, to which I replied, ‘Mom’. So, now, I keep hearing, ‘Hey, new mom,’ on the set. I bond easily with children.”
In real life, Geetanjali is performing the duties of a mother to two children though not biological. She says, “My sister passed away due to sudden cardiac arrest leaving behind two beautiful children. I couldn’t adopt them legally but I am their mother now.”
The actress is clear she doesn’t wish to get married or have children of her own. I am not keen to have my own child, because I don’t want my bond with my sister’s children to change at any cost. Many people tell me that I have made such a big compromise in my life. But I don’t look at it that way. My nephews needed me, and I am glad I could be with them to fulfill the duties of a mother.”
