Hansa Singh: TV provides financial freedom only if you bag a role that has continuity, otherwise you’ve to look for other avenues to survive

There was a time when people felt that it was difficult to get good roles as one got older. But that perception has changed completely today. There is a plethora of roles and interestingly, for all age groups, because the stories written now are not just cliched.
As Hansa Singh says, "Things have changed now. This is the best phase for actors of all age groups, especially those in their 40s I would say.Thanks to OTT, there is enough scope now. Our age group actors are also getting titular roles and a chance to play a variety of roles on TV as well. I hope to bag a powerful role too and my shoulders are strong enough with experience to do that.”
Hansa began her TV career with Yaadon Ka Safathen and then went on to do shows like Yug , Main Dilli Hoon and Shri Ganesh. Last seen in Aarambh in 2017, she then decided to try her luck in films. She says, “I feel my last show Aarambh was like a film on TV. I am happy and grateful to be part of that show."
So why did she quit TV, given that it does provide financial security? "Only if you are lucky enough to bag a role that has continuity, then the money is good. And when you don’t have such a role, you will have to look for other avenues to survive. I am glad I am doing films today and I want to focus in web shows," she said.
