Balika Vadhu actress Roop Durgapal is a follower of Lord
Krishna and on the occasion of
Janmashtami today, she shares how she has been celebrating the festival. The actress says, "Since I was a kid, my mother used to teach me about Krishna and tell me his stories. I have always followed his teachings and learnt a lot from it.
He talks about karma and how you should keep working on it and one day your good deeds will bear fruit.
Even as an actor, I feel that one should keep working hard and you will get what you deserve in return."
So what are her plans today? "This time too, like every year, I visited the Krishna temple. As a kid I used to go with my sister and mother to temples. In the future someday, I would like to celebrate Janmashtami in Vrindavan," she shares.
Roop says that she feels connected to Krishna because she has also been a maakhan chor since she was a kid. She says, "I used to eat a lot of butter. My family would tell me that this is processed butter and eating it excessively isn't good. But I just loved eating butter and would hide from everyone and take it out from the fridge. I still do that."
Three years back, Roop lost her mother and it was the most difficult phase of her life. She says, "After my mother left us, I was shattered and even today I haven't overcome that sadness. But I have been able to move on because I have learnt that even after a person is gone, their soul lives on. These teachings have helped me and kept me going."
