I would love to see myself in films: Sana Saeed
She is still best remembered as SRK’s cute daughter Anjali in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. Sana Saeed, who was all of eight years then, did a couple of other films before going back to her studies. Sana, who was then seen on TV in Babul Ka Aangan Chhootey Na and Lo Ho Gayi Pooja Iss Ghar Ki, made a splash on the big screen again last year when she made her debut as a grown up actress in Student Of The Year.

Glamorous and bikini-clad, Sana as the petite Tanya grabbed eyeballs in the film followed by her impressive stint in the dance reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 6. Taking her passion for dance a step further, Sana was seen as a dancer in the latest episode of Yeh Hai Aashiqui.
Talking about working in episodics, Sana says, “This is a subtle love story which revolves around a dance competition. I think short stories are great as they tell the entire story in about an hour’s time and help brush up your acting skills also. As an actor, I have always tried to do different things and experiment. This was another step.”
Sana, who took some time before realising that acting was her calling, says, “Until six years ago, acting was only a hobby for me. I was studying marketing and advertising, trying to figure it out and doing the projects which came my way. But then I realised that going for a shoot was easy and I always enjoyed it. That was when I started taking it more seriously.” But for her, who people had seen as a child actor, things didn’t come easy.
She says, “I knew nobody in the industry and had no idea where to start. So I naturally went the old school way — got a portfolio and went for different auditions; did everything step by step. Till now, I had only done things which had come my way, I had never gone looking for work. But this time around, I just told myself that this is what you want, so you’ve got to try. But I see everything as a learning experience, nothing as a struggle. My parents were also surprised when I told them about my decision; they were like — why now! But your parents know your strengths and my parents knew my calling.”

For Sana, who has worked in all mediums of entertainment, movies are the natural preference. She says, “The time span is easier in films, you have the liberty to bring out the best in you in as much time as you want. TV always works with a deadline. Having said that, TV has a huge base. If you’re on TV, people really get to know you and Jhalak proved that for me. In India, we’re all TV addicts.”
Talking about her future projects and aspirations, she says, “I am not aiming to be a part of showbiz continuously. I love films hence I would obviously love to see myself in films.”
