Karan Mehra, who turned a complete vegetarian eight years ago, had a tough time finding vegetarian food in Cape Town, recently.
The actor, who does not even eat eggs, had to live on cornflakes and brown bread sandwiches with cucumber and tomato fillings.

"Even the cheese that they put on your pizza or in your sandwich will have some kind of non-vegetarian ingredients.
They consider fish and eggs, which are quite common there, as vegetarian food. Our unit did get vegetarian food, but you can’t eat the same dal and sabzi every day, and this happened for 13 days."

Karan, apparently, had grown so homesick after a week that he went exploring the town for a vegetarian restaurant. "I finally managed to find one eatery that served dosas and ate that to my heart’s content," he laughs.
