My mother wants me to get back to acting, says Bhairavi Raichura

Bhairavi Raichura, who even today is best remembered as Kajal bhai from Hum Paanch, has been missing from the small screen. Over the years, she has been part of shows like Balika Vadhu, Ek Raja Ek Rani and Krishna among others, but she hasn’t taken up another project since almost a decade now.
Of course, she has kept herself creatively satisfied by turning producer and creating content for television as well as OTT. In a candid chat, Bhairavi talks about why she decided to take a break from acting. She says, “I always wanted to get into production. I like the entire process of working on a project from scratch, which is why I got into producing my own content. I knew that I was taking a big risk, especially because I was doing well as an actor. Sometimes I wonder if I took the right decision. But the fact is that I am in a happy space today.”
The actor in her, however, still gets tempted to face the camera. She says, “As an actor, I still get tempted when I look at good roles and think what if I would have played them. Yes, I miss acting. My last shows were Balika Vadhu and Sasural Genda Phool as an actor. I have been busy producing shows for the past 10 years, but acting will always be my passion.”
She adds, “My mother is not happy about me being a producer, she wants me to be an actor! She keeps telling me to get back to acting and sometimes, I end up having small arguments with her (laughs). It’s not just her, many others close to me want me to return to acting.”
So, does she plan to do that sometime soon? “TV requires a lot of time and commitment, which is difficult for me to give. But now there are great opportunities in the web space, which require lesser time. So, I would like to get back to acting someday, but I don’t know when,” says Bhairavi.
