Preventing a pre-term delivery to being in a critical condition; Ishita Dutta shares her second pregnancy journey

Actors Ishita Dutta and Vatsal Sheth are celebrating the arrival of their second child, born on June 10, 2025, who they named Veda. For Ishita, this pregnancy was an emotional journey, especially after the struggles she faced during her first pregnancy, which ended in a premature delivery. This time, the actress was extra cautious and followed every instruction from her doctors. In her recent vlog, she opened about being advised bed rest and how that shaped her days before delivery. She also spoke about the thoughts and fears that crossed her mind as she prepared to welcome her baby. Here's all you neeed to kow:

2/8

Entering the third trimester

In the vlog, Ishita begins by sharing her experience of entering the 7th month of her pregnancy, which also marks the start of her third trimester. She explains that her doctors had strictly advised her not to travel and to take complete rest. While she was allowed to do some local work, shoots, and work from home, she was told not to take flights or even travel long distances by car. Ishita also recalls that her first three months were very difficult, as she had to be on bed rest due to heavy bleeding and had to completely stop working during that period.

Preventing a pre-term delivery

Ishita then talks about her recent sonography and other medical tests. During the check-up, she found out that her cervix was opening, which meant that her delivery could be early, just like her first pregnancy. She explains that her son Vayu was born in the 35th week and was still a premature baby, while a complete third trimester usually lasts 40 weeks. This time, the issue was identified even earlier, in her 29th week. Because of this, her doctors told her to focus only on rest to reduce the chances of another pre-term delivery.

4/8

A ceremony by her mother

The actress also shares about a Bengali tradition that takes place in the 9th month of pregnancy. In this ceremony, the mother of the pregnant woman cooks her favourite dishes and feeds her, as a way of blessing the baby and welcoming it. Since Ishita’s delivery could happen anytime, her mother decided to hold the ceremony earlier, in her 8th month. Ishita says the small ceremony was very special for her, especially because it was done with the baby’s arrival in mind.

5/8

Choosing to stay in the hospital

Later in the vlog, Ishita opens about experiencing severe acidity, which led her to visit the hospital. The doctors told her that her condition was very critical and she needed at least two more weeks before she could deliver safely. She was initially advised to go back home, but her acidity worsened as soon as she returned. Because of this, Ishita decided to stay in the hospital until her delivery.

6/8

A hospital incident that changed Ishita’s view

While sharing about her hospital stay, Ishita recalls an emotional incident. She says that while sitting in a wheelchair in severe pain, she remembered going through the same pain two years ago when she delivered her first child. This time, it was not even labour pain but acidity, yet it was still very difficult for her. Ishita questioned why she had to go through so much pain again. Just then, she saw a newborn being brought out from another room. Looking at the baby’s face, she told her husband that this is exactly why the pain is worth it. She added that in the end, “Joh bhi hua accha hua, the end result was fabulous.”

7/8

Remembering their first baby before delivery

On their way to the hospital, Ishita and Vatsal spoke about the time they welcomed their first child. Ishita says she and her husband were very nervous back then because it was their first experience. This time, she feels they are more experienced, but that doesn’t mean there is no nervousness. She explains that the nervousness is still there because now they know exactly what is going to happen during delivery. Ishita also shared her excitement to see how her son Vayu would react to meeting his sibling. The couple even shared that it was their 36th week, which meant it was safe for the baby to arrive.

8/8

Before and after delivery thoughts

Before giving birth, Ishita spoke about her labour pain experiences from her first pregnancy. She shared how she had even used an app to track her pain and how well prepared she was at that time. Talking about her hospital bag, she laughed and said, “pehle pregnancy meine poora ghar laya tha mere bag mein. Second pregnancy mein you realise kuch nahi chahiye, apne aapko lekar aao. 1 kapda for you, 1 for the baby, 1 carrier to carry the baby back home, aur kuch nahi chahiye hospital mein sab kuch hota hai.” After the delivery, the couple revealed that they welcomed a baby girl. Vatsal expressed that he was extremely overwhelmed and even cried when he saw his little princess, while Ishita shared that the delivery went very smoothly.
