Shaleen Malhotra: I remember how as a kid I used to dress up like Krishna on Janmashtami, that felt so special

Actor Shaleen Malhotra is currently seen playing the role of Captain Karan in the television show Ziddi Dil- Maane na. He is busy shooting these days, but he will celebrate Janmashtami tomorrow in his own little way. While this year too the celebrations will be low-key like last year due to the pandemic, people's spirits will be high. In fact he is always excited about this festival, he says, “I know that celebrations will be low-key like this year as well because of the pandemic, but I will celebrate the festival at home with my family.”
Talking about his childhood memories of the festival, Shaleen says, “My fondest childhood memory is the time we would spend preparing for the festival.We lived in a colony in Delhi and everyone would come together for the Janmashtami preparations. All the kids, including myself, would get mud from the ground, get different Krishna dolls and prepare a makeshift stage with a small lake and mountains.”
Recounting his days as a kid when he dressed up as Krishna, he says, “I used to dress up as Lord Krishna and everyone used to make me feel so special. Those were some of my happiest days.” Festivals bring families together and Shaleen loves these occasions. “What I really enjoyed was the whole process of coming together during festivals. And as a team, all my friends would arrange things on our own and decorate the place, connect the lights and sound systems to start the festival.”
