Mona Wasu, who played the role of 'Miilee' in a television show that went by the same name, is ready with her Bollywood debut. The actress will be seen in 'Maazii', a film directed and produced by Jaideep Chopra slated for a September 27 release. Talking about her transition from television to film, she says, “I used to get opportunities during my television days as well, but I ignored them. I wasn’t mature enough to handle films at that point.”
However, Mona admits that it was a mistake to reject films. “I didn’t work hard enough in the past and had a very casual attitude. I quickly became a household name and was earning money. I even bought a house and then became very complacent.”
Now that the actress is finally appearing in a film, she is aware of the competition; but not anxious about it.
From her successful stint in television, she reminisces about her first negative role, which
Ekta Kapoor offered her. “After playing an outgoing girl in
Miilee, I started getting the same kind of offers. I picked characters which were different from each other. Ekta was very sweet to offer me my first negative role (in
Parichay). But didn’t Ekta Kapoor ever offer her a film? “No, she never did. But I hope to hear from her soon.”
