TV has become bold today: Mona Singh

Even though her current role is that of a woman putting up with her husband’s infidelity, actress Mona Singh believes that it is important for a woman to be self-independent and start life all over again. “With social responsibility as an actor, I would love to inspire women across the country,” she says.
Acting has always been her passion. Be it the challenging bespectacled look in Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin or the reality show Jhalak Dikhla Jaa, Mona has always dabbled in various roles.Talking about reality shows, the actors admits that they are here to stay. “Reality shows are very close to my heart as it helps a common man to realise his dream. When one person participates in a reality show, the transition which he or she goes through is miraculous. The entire journey, the makeover and the metamorphosis, is amazing,” she adds.
The actress believes that the television industry has grown tremendously over the last few years and the brand value of actors has grown manifold. “I think since the time I am doing television, the industry is scaling new heights. All the actors are earning well and I am content.”
With bold scenes becoming the order of the day on national television, does she feel that TV has come of age? “TV is something which you watch with your entire family and I must say that it has become open to a certain level but unlike films with 270 channels at your fingertips, you have a choice to watch a particular programme. With the audience becoming mature, TV has become bold today.”
