Former Bigg Boss Kannada fame and actor Mayur Patel booked for drunk driving after a multi-car crash in Bengaluru
Former Bigg Boss Kannada contestant and actor Mayur Patel has been booked by the Bengaluru traffic police for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol and causing a road accident late on Tuesday night.
The incident occurred near the Commando Hospital signal on Old Airport Road, where Mayur Patel was reportedly driving a Toyota Fortuner. Police said the vehicle rammed into cars that were halted at the traffic signal, leading to a chain collision involving multiple vehicles. Several cars were damaged in the impact, though no serious injuries were reported.
Traffic police rushed to the spot and detained the actor for questioning. A breathalyser test allegedly confirmed the presence of alcohol, following which a case was registered under relevant sections for drunk and negligent driving at the Halasuru Traffic Police Station.
Based on a complaint filed by one of the affected motorists, police have seized the actor’s vehicle and initiated further investigation. Officials stated that legal action will proceed as per the Motor Vehicles Act and other applicable laws.
Mayur Patel, who gained popularity after his appearance on Bigg Boss Kannada and later acted in Kannada films, has not issued an official statement regarding the incident so far.
What Lies Ahead
As the legal process unfolds, authorities have reiterated the importance of strict action against drunk driving, irrespective of a person’s social or professional standing. The case against Mayur Patil is currently under investigation, and further developments are awaited.
The incident has once again highlighted the dangers of drunk driving and the responsibility public figures carry as role models in society.
