Bigg Boss Kannada 10 contestant Varthur Santhosh, who was arrested for possessing a tiger claw pendant, has been granted bail by a city court. The Forest Department had initially opposed his bail, expressing concerns that he might tamper with the evidence.
Santhosh had sought bail on Monday, and the court had given the prosecution until Wednesday to file any objections.
After hearing arguments from both sides on Thursday, the court reserved its order and finally pronounced it on Friday.
Santhosh's lawyer, K Nataraj, alleged a conspiracy behind his client's arrest, saying, "We expected to get bail and got it. The forest department had arrested him illegally. He was arrested without even questioning. It looks like a case of conspiracy."
Consequently, it is anticipated that Varthur Santhosh will be released later today after posting bail. The court granted bail with the stipulation that a cash security deposit of Rs 4,000 or a surety must be provided. Nataraj, the lawyer representing Varthur
Santhosh, raised concerns about procedural errors on the part of the forest authorities.
The forest department had apprehended Santhosh from the sets of Kannada Bigg Boss on the outskirts of Bengaluru on Sunday (October 22) night for wearing a tiger claw pendant during the reality show. The alleged claws have been sent to the forensic lab, and the results are pending. The prosecution had claimed that Santhosh had admitted to wearing the tiger claws.
As a result of the court's decision, Santhosh, who is currently in the central jail Parappana Agrahara, is expected to be released either today or by Saturday morning.
Expressing relief over the bail, Santhosh's uncle Ramesh addressed the media and also suggested that a conspiracy might be at play in his nephew's arrest.
When questioned about whether Santhosh would re-enter the Bigg Boss house, Ramesh indicated that no such discussions had taken place, and a decision on his return would be made after his release from jail.
The case has attracted significant attention, and as the legal proceedings continue, questions about the circumstances surrounding Santhosh's arrest persist. His bail brings a glimmer of hope for the popular reality show contestant as he awaits the results of the forensic examination of the tiger claw pendant that led to his arrest.
