It has indeed been a dark year for the Kannada TV industry. From Puneeth Rajkumar to Savi Madappa, many celebrities left a void in the Kannada entertainment industry. Here's a look back at the celebs who passed away this year.

On October 29, the 'Power star of Kannada film industry' Puneeth Rajkumar passed away at the age of 46 after suffering a massive heart attack. He was rushed to a private hospital in Bengaluru after he felt uneasy. However, he breathed his last on his way to the hospital. Puneeth's sudden and untimely demise not only came as a shocker but many are yet to come in terms with the loss of their favorite actor.

On September 30, small screen actress Savi Madappa, who was also known as Sounjanya, allegedly hanged herself in her flat on the outskirts of Bengaluru city. She was 25. Soujanya left a four-page note before taking the extreme step. She claimed that her mental state was not good and she could not take it anymore.

Veteran Kannada actor Shivram passed away recently at a private hospital in Bengaluru. He was 84. Shivram, who was fondly known as Shivramanna in the industry, was in a critical condition after being hospitalised due to a head injury. The actor was reportedly admitted to an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in a private hospital. However, he breathed his last on December 4.

Veteran actor Shankar Rao, who shot to fame for his comic roles, passed away on October 18 morning. The veteran actor has been reportedly suffering from age-related ailments for a while now. The ace actor reportedly breathed his last around 6:30 AM at his residence in Arekere, Bengaluru. The funeral was held in Banashankari Chittagram, Bengaluru by his family members.

Ace actor Umesh Hegde reportedly passed away on October 11 early morning. He was 71. According to reports, the actor suffered a massive heart attack in the wee hours of Sunday (October 10). Although he was immediately rushed to the hospital, the veteran actor soon breathed his last. His body was kept at his residence for his near and dear ones to pay their last respects to the veteran actor.

Veteran actress Jayanthi, aged 76, passed away on July 26 morning in Bengaluru due to age-related ailments. The veteran actress reportedly breathed her last during her sleep.

Veteran Kannada actor Rajaram, aged 84, reportedly passed away on May 10. Although rumors were rife that the ace actor was suffering from Covid-19 complications, there was no official confirmation from the family members on the same.
