Born into a Malayali family from Tamil Nadu, Pooja Ramachandran was raised in Bengaluru. She currently resides in Chennai.

Pooja obtained her Bachelors degree in Visual Communication from the CSI Bishop Appasamy College of Arts and Science, Coimbatore.

Soon after her studies, Pooja participated in various beauty pageants winning the 'Miss Coimbatore 2004' title.

Pooja took a brief hiatus from her professional career after her divorce with VJ Craig. “I’ve never been someone who is very ambitious and career-oriented. I’m in no hurry to sign films or rush into anything. I will just continue to do whatever work that comes my way,” said Pooja in one of her recent interviews to TimesofIndia.com.
